Program Description

In this course students learn valuable skills in residential and commercial wiring and construction. The work is rewarding and challenging. Work situations are constantly changing and some of the work is done on construction sites. Men and women in this field work outdoors and indoors on ladders, scaffolds, and in confined spaces.

Students will learn about electrical safety and construction codes, combination circuits, wiring methods, low voltage wiring, box location planning/installation, switches and controls, current measurement, series and parallel circuits, motors, motor controls, transformers, plans and specifications, estimating, and commercial wiring methods.

Employment opportunities for the electrical service and maintenance field are projected to be profitable for many years to come.
