Program Description
The heavy equipment truck and diesel program is designed to meet the growing demand for technicians in the transportation, marine, agricultural, and construction fields.
The course provides training in the diagnosis and repair of heavy equipment as well as medium and heavy trucks. Students learn the principles of the diesel engine, drive train, brakes, suspension and steering, electrical/electronic systems, and preventive maintenance inspection.
Students receive classroom-based theory instruction that they then apply to hands-on lab work in the shop. Specialty areas include Caterpillar and Cummins electronic diesel engines. Select students will have the opportunity to job-shadow and intern with professionals in the area.
