The most distinctive feature of this program is the student’s interaction with adult professionals within a professional setting. A typical week is divided between theory or instructional days and rotation days where students learn and collaborate with professionals related to their specific New Visions program.
The New Visions Life Sciences program meets at Cornell University’s Guterman Lab. Cornell provides students with a classroom, laboratory space, greenhouse space, library privileges, a lunch break area and access to parking. Rotations can include veterinary science, plant biology, wildlife biology, biotechnology, conservation and natural resources, environmental policy, and land use.
The New Visions Health Sciences Program is located at Cayuga Medical Center. Student rotations are held at the hospital campus, as well as Convenient Care Center, Surgicare, and community health care agencies and physicians’ offices. Rotation opportunities include oncology, surgery, radiology, intensive and cardiac care, nutrition, rehabilitation therapy, maternity, pediatrics, and many more.
